Spring Carnival

The spring carnival will soon be arriving With exciting rides and strange exotic shows, Loudspeakers will blare with old disco jiving Flickering neon lights causing nocturnal glows. With exciting rides and strange exotic shows Featuring the weird and impossible stunts, Flickering neon lights causing nocturnal glows Barkers and showmen, workers, and grunts. Featuring the weird and impossible stunts Parents shielding children from scanty-clad girls, Barkers and showmen, workers, and grunts Steer them to Ferris Wheel and Tilt-a-Whirls. Parents shielding children from scanty-clad girls Enticing naïve bumpkins to enter the tents, Steer them to Ferris Wheel and Tilt-a-Whirls Where good times are had with better sense. Parents shielding children from scanty-clad girls Loudspeakers will blare with old disco jiving, Steer them to Ferris Wheel and Tilt-a-Whirls The spring carnival will soon be arriving.

Yep, I was dredging up those memories from my childhood. I loved it when there was a carnival or a circus, or even our county fair. Those were favorite times.

Yup, that’s a keeper! Never did carnivals growing up, but that captures the mood of what I’ve seen and imagined

I had so fine experiences as a teenager at the carnival, Jeff. This is the second poem, as I recall, that I have written about it. Thanks!

Brilliant Milt, great images I visited carnival in my work about a year ago though not nearly as creative as yours which bought back fond memories, such talent!

I found it, Terry. Nice. It sounded more like a circus with the animals. The carnivals I am used to generally don't feature animals or clowns. They are mostly rides and sideshows. I do love both...the circus and the carnival.

Hmmm...I'm going to try to find your poem, Terry. I love the carnival, have since childhood. I'd like to see what you did with it. I'll let you know.

LOVE IT! Nice work! Love the imagery and the memories it evokes. I too have visited the carnival in my work but mine is much darker. Yours however bring back positive bright memories. It is ALWAYS a treat to read your work!
