Spreading Wings
SPREADING WINGS
Inside a silver room
Walls embellished with morganite
A ray of sunlight shines through
Bringing in the ringing sound of laughter from outside.
The tranquil hush of a waterfall
Echoes softly through the room
Blush blossom petals descend
Behind a delicate veil of mist
While with blue bells and tulips the damp earth is abloom.
Yet a curtain of hopeless gloom
Hangs above,
Dolorous eyes gaze out in a silent plea
And even amidst the waterfall and bluebells,
The only real beauty is in a bird set free
Nishma Sovani. (Age 16 Grade X1)
