Splash
SPLASH
the splendor raindrop —
a world of glass
in constant release.
from the kingdom cloud,
falling like a toddler-robin,
landing on an impressed leaf —
it applauds with reverence.
the raindrop swells broad shoulders
and a rainbow sheen.
though it clings, its grip loosens
and once again this parachute
free falls,
with an unburdened soul
landing in a puddle,
suffering the scrupulous squelch
of muddy water
placed at this exact moment
for the splash of ecstatic boots
worn by a preschool child.
the raindrop grins.
