Spiders On Staircases

There! Look there is one more violet spider
with legs spread on the staircase
outside river walk apartment buildings;
they're listening to the young boys playing jazz
on Detroit river walk
and my brother tells me to never go by them spiders,
but I continue to look at them gazing at me and smiling
telling me to come over to their silky webs,
but my brother says, don't go!
So I don't, and I continue to walk down with my head turning back at them
and they turn to another man who walks blindly into their silky webs
and they take him out with smooth style kisses.
and I go down to the plaza and put my feet in the water and skip rocks
on the Detroit river watching the boats in even sunset cruise and Canada says hi from the other side.
