Spend the Day

I went to a nursing home to visit with an old friend...
We used to pitch horse shoes together and he taught
me how to win.

I had not seen my friend in quite a while...
So we both opened up and cleared the file.

We talked and talked and shared a lot...
We sat in rockers on the front porch and it really got hot.

It was well worth the time and effort being with him...
He looked so thin and also so slim.

WE both enjoyed the sounds and sights...
And he confessed he doesn't sleep most nights.

WE agreed to get together again next week...
Believe me, that's a promise I am going to keep.

There are a lot of lonely people just wasting away...
If you want to make a difference a nursing home
is a great place to spend the day.
