Sparkling Diamonds

awake am I at three am as dark sky closes in
not a sound as I look skywards 
I then espy the brightest light when
sparkling diamonds rain on me 
'tis Venus sprinkling her gems of love
the brightest jewel in the darkest sky

Written after a sleepless night on 7th August 2021

Yes that is so true Richard and if I am awake I will often wander onto my balcony to look at the sky and will be rewarded with something beautiful... kindest thoughts Ann xx

wow, this is beautiful. I hope it wins. I think that about my poems, hoping they win. I've been lucky now maybe 1/8 of the time in these contests! I think this one has a great shot.
