Sparklers

Sparklers
By Michelle Morris

Running around in the dark with sparklers in our hands,
Enjoying fun in the park while we're young and bold.

Knowing that life could end abruptly at any time,
Embracing the full moon and celebrating how it shines.

Forgetting our sorrows and cares for one minute at a time,
Supporting one another through any given crisis.

Smiling at strangers and being kind because it's good,
Community building in our neighbourhood.

Enjoying the light show from the sparklers in our space,
Reflected in the stars, the destinies and the fates.
