Spare the rod, spoil the child
Sayings are short-hand stories
Sensible people support and encourage sensitivity
Selflessly give seconds, minutes, hours, days
Sow the seeds of empathy
Save their souls because it's not worth,
spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar.
