Spaceships

I was born before a spaceship sailed around a moon or star. And no aliens had yet been seen appearing from afar. All of the planets had been named, there were no more to be spotted. That there were other other galaxies was only claimed by the besotted. They were fighting the war to end all wars, the year that I was born. My dad was using horses to plant his wheat and corn. There were no movies showing space wars as they're showing youth today. And no one carried stun guns that can take your life away. All these things were of the future that was coming very soon. I am glad I got to see it when they walked upon the moon. I wish that I could stay here for another ninety years To see the exciting changes as the future perseveres. Written: 3/09/14

I have never seen a space movie, Shadow, so wasn't going to enter but thought I might just show the differences that have come about in my lifetime. Love, Joyce

Well done, my grandfather had a saying you might enjoy "Patience and perseverance made a Bishop of his reverence."

Dear Joyce, your poem provided the reader with a journey through time. How amazing it must have been to live through the "War to end all wars." We think every war will be the last, but it never is. I too hope you will be here for another 90 years. Your memories of space travel and planets are beautifully described. I was worried as I'd not heard from your for so long, but am glad you are still writing. Love and blessings, Carolyn

What a splendid poem, Joyce! I love all things space and space related, in fact just watched GRAVITY, the Oscar winner. Grew up peering many hours through a small inexpensive telescope, dreaming of far off places & adventures. THANKS for a nice poem and read this day!
