South Georgia Belle

Listen to poem:
Won't you dance with me in your front yard tonight
By the light of that South Georgia moon
With the stars in your eyes, true love in your heart
Right after this fine afternoon

Your hand on my shoulder, mine on your hip
You draw me right into your spell
Till your hair's on my cheek, my arm round your back
Dance with me South Georgia belle

South Georgia belle, please take my hand
Step with me onto a cloud
So close to heaven, your hand in mine
    Two hearts together so proud

Ever so gentle, ever so fine
How do I know you so well
I’ll take you slowly, around by the hand
Dance with me South Georgia belle

The owls will gaze, the possums will stare
The bullfrogs and crickets will sing
When I hold you tight, and you melt in my arms
As we set on the porch on your swing

When you whisper to me, all your sweet love
I whisper mine to you as well
Our hearts become one, and our souls intertwine
Forever my South Georgia belle
