Sounds In the Distance

At the edge of
the wild
       we hear a sound
        something from the heart
of the woods
     is reaching out to us
the sunlight warms us
        and soft breezes
         caress our bodies
But what is that sound?
Where is it coming from?
   Feeling adventurous
we enter the old forest
It seems that the sound was from a bird
an unknown creature which we now see
  As we approach this
bird it takes wing
   We sigh and leave
       the darkening woods
The song is over
We live on
