Sound Adventure
Breathing in the cool autumn air
Just a robust, free spirit in the wild
Fearing tedium and longing for fun
Here I stand, truly in the sticks
Above me a cacophony of sounds
Birds perched on branches chirping
An occasional hoot from an owl
As I wander between the tall oaks
Snap, crackle and popping leaves
An adult kid looking for adventure
Far from the loud city traffic noises
Enjoying my friendship with nature
Now on a rustic path leading to a river
Where the scrawny fish pop out and in
And lively frogs can be heard croaking
I am soundly far from the mundane
This eternal child dives into the river
Swimming in the current and rapid flow
Not gaping at the water from the woods
Not stopped and no longer an observer
