Souls met
The day we first met
A coach journey south from the north
Couldn’t wait to feel your embrace and warmth
It has been a journey to get there
Always an excuse that didn’t seem fair
I tried to make it work first time round
Always said that work made you drown
Every suggestion work was the reason
It just turned out to be preseason
I thought you were not interested
And my effort was not unlimited
So the brakes were slammed
It may have been the truth but poorly planned
I was too old to play second fiddle
And live my adult life in the middle
Cutting contact seemed best
However my heart did not rest
A period of time where I was alone and sick
Hindsight said you were the pick
Should of fought harder in those days
Trusted your word and the delays
We had not even met face to face
Already red flags and been displace
Several months go by
A text is what it took to retry
The easy route was not right
An apology and the time to fight
This is where our journey really started
A few conversations before I departed
On the way to actually see you
No excuses this time just time to pursue
You made space for my heart
I wish you did this from the start
One weekend was it all it took
For me to grab the hook
We had fun and time together alone
Getting know each other without a phone
My heart and mind sang
Our relationship began with a bang
For it was less than a month later
I gave up my life for something greater
That is the past
We moved very fast
Absolutely no regret
I’m so happy that our souls met
