Soul Sisters

"Imagine a lovely garden, tea for two, and this story . . . "

Two soul sisters knew at once
That they were kindred spirits, under the sun

After too many moons, hanging by ropes,
They breathed in life and sparkled with hope

Till somehow they let their friendship flutter away -
Like dandelion wisps on a gray, windy day

The loss, like a stone, in their hearts' homes,
But each too proud, to let the other one know

Ouch, this is everyone can relate, Susan. How our ego always effortlessly win over our little heart.

I loved how you said it in the third couplet, like dandelion wisps. letting it get away. yes, it's a very sad thing, Susan.

This really touches a special place in my heart, Susan, as I'm sure it does for many readers. That "fluttering away" can result from failure to stay in communication or from a disagreement. It's hard to reunite, but it's always a goal for which we strive. Best wishes in the contest with this moving poem. Love, Carolyn
