Soul and Eternity

Before
The threshold of eternity, the soul stood for a while
Hesitating to cross over onto the realm of oblivion
Pondering
What lies beyond heaven's glorious gates.

Agony and anticipation in soul's heart where
Implicated in a fierce battle
As the hope of a better world and the fear of the unknown
Were with all their might fighting to prevail
One over the other.

Fear was the first to express the reasons for its agony:

"Since no soul is blameless and all of them are sinners
It's only just to me to dread this horrific crossing
for unknown is to both of us the sort of punishment that
the soul awaits for all the wrongs she has done here on
the material plane."

Hope when heard fear's reasoning; here is how
it replied:

" It is in the human nature, one to fear the unknown,
but Man from the moment of his creation knew that he was mortal
and that his real self was not the body that one can see
but his spiritual substance,
the substance that can be seen only after eternity's threshold
a soul has crossed over!"

Now the soul,
Having heard the arguments of both of her counselors
Undecided seemed to remain, just for a little bit longer
But the decision she finally took forward to go!
Thus
Instantly, she disappeared into a universe of sacred light
Joyful, happy, jubilant, ecstatic, ever-blissful
And became one with eternity, immortal, everlasting
Radiating with holiness, enraptured with grace
A divine ray now she has turned to be that encompasses the
COSMOS!*
