you say that you are sorry
are you sorry you said that
can't you think of anything
or is that all you have
sorry you got caught
sorry that you lied
sorry for the circumstance
in which somebody died
sorry is a word
we too often lend
take it back so we can have
it to use again
sorry for your problems
sorry for my mistakes
sorry that i didn't say
sorry on that day
sorry's for all occasions
be it early, be it late
be it clear or insincere
it's a word we often say
sorry but i didn't know
sorry that i did
sorry i didn't speak up sooner
but who am i trying to kid
take these words for all they're worth
hold them tight or set them free

then i am sorry
