Sophomore Breakup

Sorry, lover,
I think you forgot:
that you said forever,
and I did not.

A whole week
with no word?
Baby I’m the chick
you’ll never deserve.

I see her there,
sitting high in your lap,
with fingers in your hair
like when I did that.

So goodbye, lover,
I hope you’ll remember:
you said forever
and you were the ender.
