Sophie's Heart

around her neck she wears her heart dangled on a silver chain the pink of polished quartz -- more valuable than any treasure -- the special gift she gave her precious daughter now each caress awakens memories of Sophie’s laughter and million dollar smile in the blissfully awaited moment of forgotten visits to the cancer ward she can still see Sophie blowing out her birthday candles her eyes lit up with joy and when she clasped the chain around Sophie’s tiny neck how proud she looked! how Sophie shone with glee but she’d never see another birthday Sophie was destined to remain forever four and around mom’s neck she wears her heart dangled on a silver chain AP: 1st place 2021 Posted on July 6, 2019

So sad but often true. Being a mother, I cannot imagine it but this is done in a lovely way, Line.
