Soothed

You found me fighting again...
sword drawn in burning battles.
At war with heavy words,
raging against my weakness.
You saw me dragging, dragging
my battered soul, my armored heart,
through blackened fields, razed to the ground.
Places where humaneness fled
and left barren, futile feelings instead.
Neither fragile peace nor hollow victory
could regain me or reconnect numbed nerves,
where I had left myself for dead.

Yet you still soothed me with whisper words...
Bound deep wounds with tender touch,
and gently, gently eased the hurting heart
to lie between blankets of careful kindness
in a bed prepared with mindful love.

Then I slept the deepest, deepest sleep.
Soothed.

Poignant the exercise of this filtration of gratitude and reconciliation for finding meanings and truth. The human touch- touched by a place of restful relief and understanding of contemplations and running motions, met again in second wind, new perspectives storming in like lightning aided friend.

Thank you so much for your insightful words, Jude - they sound down deeply... Feeling understood, without judgment, is what is needed when struggling with emotional turmoil. Your sentiments are much appreciated! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment too.(( Warm regards, Aqua Marine.))

This was posted some years ago. I found it again while going through my poetry books. It reminded me how far I've come in my own "healing" journey. I was always determined to never "allow" myself to be destroyed. It also led me to find like minded friends who took thetime to "bring me back" from the edge. It taught me to create the boundaries I didn't have in place before. Being at peace with myself, I am at peace with others. I also can't suppress all I am No longer need that to survive. Alive
