Sonnet To Diletta
Etched in my mind a place in time of light
social disparity love light made blind
hearts overflowing their sparkling delight
twins intertwined in soul, in heart and mind
I left invited skipping like a doe
grass still tender before the mower bent
back home death left a glacial darkness woe
then through the cracks your light still shone unspent
the day we met for my granddad I wept
your smile then mine the darkness kept in check
worst the cold silence your lilting voice swept
for when I called you never answered back
not loving you as you loved me regret
tears still calling or praying to forget.
