Songs of Light

I must say
that there have been
terrible things in the news
But one can escape the horrors
By reading a good book
Or by watching baseball
That great American pastime
I take pride in Jewish ballplayers
and I take pride in being American
Although our land is now going off course
Hope must remain in our hearts
When the haters crawl back under the rock they came from
then we can once again take joy in the natural wonders
and unique ideas which we have given the world

sadly Matthew the U.S is joining the sadly decaying world. But there is hope while poets like yourself use the pen, which of course is the mightiness of all.

Sadly, they will never crawl back under their rocks. It's a new age of ridiculousness in this country. Great poem, Matt.

Thanks Andrea - yes there are some people to be avoided out there. It would be better if the gun owners would concentrate more on writing verse. I have an article coming out about NYC skyscrapers. I mention the horrific 9/11 incident in it. Strangely enough my late father's birthday was on 9/11. I miss him! He was a fine musician and loved the Romantic poets - especially Wordsworth. Peace & Love Matthew Anish
