Somnus

Elude me, sleep,
like a scorned lover
who leaves me breathless,
chest tight,
gripped with vines.

Leave me, sleep,
alone in the void,
not one sense available
as I hang,
immobile in purgatory.

Call me, sleep,
vibrant siren in an inky sea,
I fall to your whim,
oblivious,
into your arms.
