Somewhere In Between

It ain't good and it ain't bad
It's somewhere in between
Wasn't right and it wasn't wrong
It's just a cowboy's dream

Saw her come in through the bat-wings
She stopped and looked around
Prettiest gal I'd ever seen
And I was trouble bound

I said,"Howdy", as my voice broke,
"I'll buy you one cold beer."
She said,"Thank you..but make it two,
"My husband's standin' near."

I looked around and there he was,
Scrawny as he could be
Now I am tall and I am broad
I'll whup the likes of he

I kinda chuckled at the sight
And made some smart remark
Hopin' the gal could see my strength
And that might start a spark

The spark it started came from him
He hit me in the jaw
Then broke a bottle on my head
Beat all I ever saw

I don't recall a whole lot then
They say I just went dumb
Mostly I hurt all over now
Hospital bed helps some

It ain't good and it ain't bad
It's somewhere in between
Learned some things that I didn't know
Scrawny's sometimes just lean
