Somewhere Else
Remember “no talent, just too much time?”
Well we’ve had all the time in the world now
And what have we really created? Huh?
Not a worthwhile thought, dream, scheme
If no one cares and you can’t force them, yeah, that’s it
It’s worthless
We measured ourselves by potential
The songs will write themselves we said
We said we could do it, but then we didn’t
There would be time, a whole lifetime to look ahead
But now we’re older, wasted, tired (lazier maybe?)
And no one gives a sh!t
Current company included
All that time thinking and what have we got?
Thoughts, thoughts, and more thoughts
But not a single finished product
A million words to look back at, laugh at
Then discard
Bye bye
Nothing new, nothing perfect
Things already said in ways truly meant
One good idea, maybe a few
But nothing immaculate
We’re nowhere near as good as we think we are
So toss it out
Like all the morons we ignore
Beg for some new way
Knowing conformity is the only way out
The only way now
To find any form of happiness
But how can we be happy by giving in like that?
By losing dreams and feeling nothing we want to feel
Then we feel nothing but crying, stabbing in our hearts, souls
Our very essence made false
So send it all away for good and wait
For someone else with different standards to toss it out
And quickly remind us
We’re just as awful as we figured we were
It’s too late for me though
It’s far too late to give up and go somewhere else
