Somewhere

Somewhere

Somewhere tonight a child is crying;
Crying in soft, muffled tones.
Crying for the hurt in his belly;
A Babe without a home.

Somewhere tonight I am thinking,
In some strange and far-off land.
An embattled peasant is seeking;
For fish upon the sand.

Somewhere oh, my Brother;
In a world as cold as ice.
A man will give his daughter;
In pagan sacrifice.

Somewhere though I cannot;
Tell you how or why,
In this dark world of sorrow,
A sin-sick soul will die.

Somewhere tonight my Darling,
With little thought of me,
Is crooning to some silly maiden;
Beneath a great Oak tree.

Somewhere someone is crying,
To see a flag unfurled;
Then he sees it, in midst of the battle,
And knows there is hope in the world.

Somewhere tonight I am thinking;
In a far off distant land.
A blinded soul is reaching;
For our Heavenly Father's hand.

This is such a hopeful, rhythmical, and meaningful (!) write, Wanda! Right away it's a FAVE for me. So nicely done. Best wishes, and welcome to Poetry Soup! ~ Gershon
