Notes About The Poem

"Sometimes" is a poetic metaphor for those relatively rare times in life when, after one is tested and tried (e.g., due to complications of life), a door closes but a window opens.

This entry was awarded third place in Sotto Poet's "Traditional Cinquain" poetry contest - topic #4, Complications of life - judged 5/7/2026.

Sometimes

Sometimes Dark storms move in; Strong winds, lightning, thunder. Nature’s rage spent, may bestow a Rainbow.

Oh if this were written just a few days later into 2036. It could be used in Brian's contest. I did a cinquain for him. Just not posted yet. I see at least 4 more contests I want to write for and time is ticking,!

Your succinct, thought-provoking poetry explores transformation, beauty in struggle, and hope after adversity. The poem's symbolic imagery and literary techniques help convey your message. Happy New Year, All the best

Thank you very much Lasaad/SP, for your truly meaningful comments on my poem. I know it takes more care, time, and effort (which I greatly appreciate - I mean that) to leave specific comments, but clearly, you have been willing to, and I am grateful. Your response tells me you really "got" my poem, and I take satisfaction in that. Blessings and a wonderful 2026 to you, sir!! Bartholomew

thanks for the email. I don't know how I got that one fact wrong. I must have gotten confused, so I will edit it. I tried to answer your soupmail but it wouldn't go through. Again, I love this poem here.

Thank you so much, Andrea!! Given your knowledge of poetry, that is particularly welcomed feedback indeed! I love the cinquain form partly because its brief structure really makes one focus his or her words and use them economically for the most positive impact and message. Blessings!
