Something New

Although retired, we'd wake up tired;
   sound, peaceful sleep, did not acquire.
We found a plan which we admire
   that makes our 'day' much more desired.

Our energy picks up at night;
   so morning hours are over-hyped.
By noon, sometimes, were feeling wiped;
   by ten pm our strength ignites.

Now something new that we have tried;
   our sleeping hours have been revised.
By two am to bed, obliged,
   and up at ten left us surprised!

We can accomplish much more now;
   our 'day' is longer, well-endowed.
And hubby with this plan is proud;
   we are in sync here at our house.

We're wide awake, as night flavors
   late movies, shows, we now savor,
or read and write past midnight hour;
    wake up mid-morn...'new' day is ours.

Wonderfully charming and insightful, and written with precise excellence, as always - I am a night owl as well, and always have been, (though I adore sunshine, too), but I love sunrise, so I sleep about 3-4 hours in the late morning, usually, and that's it, (a while longer on weekends, unless plans). Blessings and best wishes, Sandra - congratulations on your superb win in Nina's challenging contest, my friend, keep up the excellent work! :-) <3

Thank you again, Greg, for your encouraging and uplifting comments! The off-rhymes did hurt my ears a bit, but I tried to obey the rules! :):) <3

Thank you, Jan. For so many years, we both had to rise very early for family and work. But, this works for us now. Thanks for your visit and congrats. My hubby had brachytherapy for prostate cancer in 2003. Tough days, as you well know. Hugs, Sandra

Congrats on your win, Sandra. Well done. You must share your secret on how you've managed to stop people from telephoning at the 9am morning...

Thank you, Line, for your nice comment and congrats. Luckily, family and friends know when to call (unless an emergency). It's hit or miss with other calls that fortunately don't happen too often! Hugs, Sandra :)
