Something Is Wrong With This Picture..

The kids are getting hammered
Buying beer down the shops
For a penny a piece

They have the least fear
The least surprise in their eyes
When collared by the police

With bravery in their hearts
They believe they are untouchable
The beer already doing the rounds

Until at a quarter to five
Their happy party is interupted
By the wake up call of jail like sounds

Even worse, the girl who started out
So pretty that night
Hoping to catch the latest boys eye

Egged on by society
And its wasted lessons
Says yes to each drink that should of passed her by

With bravado and intoxigating
Confidence she walks up to him
Unsteady on her feet and lipstick newly applied

With not a hint of the morning
To come, after the night before
And the tears she will of cried

Tonight and him
Is all she can see
He is back slapped by his mates and told to go

The park seems appealing
As they hurriedly make their way
In a haze of drunken glow

Not even time for a postcard
This is not a place
Either one of them should be

As soon as it began
Its over
Something is wrong with this picture

Or is it just me...!

Its not all down to parents, its up to the kids as well, they have to do their bit,to make the picture well. But the above write highlights society, well written. James

No, it's not just you, Jo. Unfortunately the sad scenario you paint is played out day after day. The boys get drunk and the girls get hurt. Where are the enforcers of age limits on teen drinking? Truly "Something IS wrong with this picture." Love, Carolyn

I'm thinking the World might say that it's just you. But I agree. I just wish that in the moment, it was seen this way.
