Someone's Shoes
We made fun of you because you acted different,
I’m sorry.
We laughed at you because you looked different,
I’m sorry.
We acted like we were better than you so we could feel better about ourselves,
I’m sorry.
We wouldn’t look you in the eye when we walked past, it just seemed easier
I’m sorry
We didn’t know about your life and what you were going through, that you dressed different
because you couldn’t afford the nice clothes. You acted different because your family life
wasn’t as good as ours; you acted like you had to so you could get through life,
I’m sorry.
You took your life because of how you were treated and the life you were brought up in,
I’m sorry.
We didn’t know but it doesn’t change what we did, we were wrong and it’s too late to change
what we have done to you,
I’m sorry.
Please forgive us we were wrong and if we had it to do again we would change.
I’m sorry for what we put you through.
Never treat someone like they are a lesser person than yourself, until you have been in
someone’s shoes you can’t know what they are going through.
To all those that we hurt,
I’m sorry.
