Someone I Use To Know

Someone I use to know
Seems so long ago
In time drifted away
Taking separate ways

Conversations for hours
Time to call ours
Hoping never to end
More than a friend

Words spoken sweet
Moments we meet
A song to remind
What time left behind

Life became busy
Days passing quickly
Time gradually to heal
All the heart feels

Passing on the street
A small nod and greet
Not what we were then
Strangers once again

Sad news was shared
Life is so unfair
Sickness has taken a toll
A heart of pure gold

Visited by the angel of the Lord
Life to be no more
Another sunrise never to see
Heaven, past the sunset to be

Never to forget
Nor have regret
Having one in my life
Who made me feel alive

How I hope it is known
To me all that was shown
Memories, forever to hold
My heart, never to let go

Very beautiful heartfelt words, touched me, as I recently lost two friends to cancer. Yes we will never forget the moments they made us feel alive. Thank you for posting this gem. Maybe you would like my cancers cost poem.
