Someone I Loved

I loved someone who could never love me back,
A heart that beat for one who would not see
The love that I had offered in my lack,
A dream that was and never would be

I thought that I could make them love me fair,
That time and patience would bring us together,
But they were blind to all that I could share
And left me with a heart that knew no pleasure

Now I'm left with nothing but despair,
A love that was never meant to be my own,
A dream that vanished into empty air,
A heart that beats for love that's never shown

But still I hope that one day I'll find
A love that's true, and leave this pain behind
