Notes About The Poem

One of these days I want to wake up, and there's no wars anywhere
People aren’t dying because they can’t get medical care
And Women are finally earning equal pay
     Someday

It'd be great if everyone in love was allowed to just be free
And we don’t allow another species to go extinct
Politicians actually mean them things they say
     Someday

I want schools to have all the books and teachers that they need
And noone goes hungry because they can’t afford to eat
Where religions focus on love and not hate
     Someday

I want a world where we’re not judged by the color of our skin
Where our value is measured by our character within
And what you do matters more than what you say
     Someday

I want to live where just one job provides for all you need
Communities aren’t destroyed just for corporate greed
And nobody criticizes how you pray
     Someday

I want a world where our veterans aren’t living on the street
Where water is safe to drink and food is safe to eat
And Mother Earth doesn’t die a little bit each day
    Someday

Someday can’t come soon enough- in fact it’s overdue
It won’t get better by itself, it’s up to me and you
I want dreams to be encouraged and not betrayed
I know that it can happen someday
     Someday

Someday can’t come soon enough- in fact it’s overdue
It won’t get better by itself, it’s up to me and you
If we help the world to finally find its’ way
Someday could be today
     Today
