Notes About The Poem

My first song written by me & not AI.  Voicemaker assited until I find the right song maker (& again) using my own lyrics.  Genre: Country Music   *& added is a song dedicated to all the British boys who dreamed of being an American Cowboy!

Listen to poem:

Some Things I Can’t Undo

Lyric

Some Things I Can’t Undo

Verse I
You offered understand’n without rancor
My partner, love & anchor
Put’n me first when I’d assume
you liked my tacky boots & cheap perfume
You’d say you loved it when you didn’t
as long as it was me in ‘em & wasn’t kidd’n
Sometimes it hurts think’n back in time
the awful words blurted & out of line

Chorus
Some things I can’t undo
like the achin’& weep’n when I think of you
Sometimes it ain’t possible to erase choices made
Crushed when I’m feeling numb cuz they never fade

Refrain
I was the torch you held high
knowing love’s flame could die
Knowing it would die
Regrets aren’t irreversible, I live with my mistake
God help me cope for as long as it may take

Verse II
Romantic all-night fireside talks
White Zinfandel & alabaster waves breaking on the rocks
Simple times & places we marked
On love’s quest we then embarked
Realizing life ain’t lilacs & roses
I can’t undo the ache that lost love imposes
That bright smile stopped being tender
Carryn’ a brokenhearted Strato-Fender
It carried all memories of what we started
of what ended & how we departed
It makes me wonder ‘bout all of it now
Why we get by what we’ve done, when & how
You said once “Think ‘bout what you want & not
what you think you should do
you can’t unthink something if it’s untrue”
I’m sorry but some things I just can’t undo

Chorus
Some things I can’t undo
like the achin’& weep’n when I think of you
Sometimes it ain’t possible to erase choices made
Crushed when I’m feeling numb cuz they never fade

Refrain
I was the torch you held high
Knowing love’s flame could dim & die
Knowing it would die
Regrets aren’t irreversible, I live with my mistakes
God help me cope for as long as it takes

Dear Anaya, such grit. You’ve got that rare gift, making regret feel melodic without losing its edge. It’s country soul with a poet’s backbone. I am glad I came back to visit your hit song. Autumn Blessings, Anaya, Daniel

I love that! Daniel I lost my hankering for plugging it to voiceover, hence adding The Stones for fun. It's funnier than a hooker sweating at a revival meet'n! Thank you for your support & reviews~ Viva Country Music!

Anaya, the song is really quite good. I think you have a future as a songwriter if you would like that. I can imagine some stars knocking at your door for the rights! The accent used was fun to listen too as well. Kinda cute. Smiles!!!

WOW!!! I enjoyed reading your wonderful yet sad "Some Things I Can’t Undo" write. In life we learn and many things we can't undo. Finding peace is all we can do. The heart will go on. "Good Luck" if for a contest. Have a blessed day writing away.........

I'm delighted to hear it, Paula. It's a first! I wrote a Country Song & it's posted as Spoken Word, just until I find the app for a Country music song--with MY lyrics! TyVm sweet poetess! <3
