Some Things Can Never Be

I’m not going to climb any higher
It is only further to fall 
from something this unsteady

I’m not going to get any stronger
Not going to hold on any tighter
to something that’s slipping from me

I’ve disappeared way back in to my mind
And the way things used to be
And that’s what grips me

I’ve finally realized
Some emotions can’t be satisfied
And that some things can never be
