Some People Think

Some people say I'm lucky

To have a roof over my head

And four walls around me.

Some people say

That someone must be lookin out for me

When they hear I lived.

I know some people think

That I should be happy

That I should be smiling

That I should be laughing

And dancing

And crying

At just how lucky I am.

I know because every now and then

I'm one of those people

Who think I should think that.

Think I should think that sunsets are pretty

That I should smile when I see the lights of the city

And the clouds in the sky

Dew drops on leaves

And the sparkle in your eyes.

But I don’t.

Every now and then I think I should

But I don’t.

When the sun dips down

And spills its rose wine

Across speckled sky line

I don’t really care.

I just close my hand

And realize

I can

Since yours isn’t there.

i see city lights one moment

and your eyes so bright the next...
