Some Old Song
If I play a melody for you
letting the music sway your heart
titillating the words within your soul
venturing into territories familiar and cherished,
reconnecting us
tieing every dream and promise in place
to the days of our youth
when the time was irreversible,
reigniting the old flames
searing us together within our love
in summer passion, winter hopes, and dreaming
of a time that has no end,
what would the lyrics say
what would you say
would you listen
hearing the memories
that are too often hidden
forgotten
in some old song?
