Some Hero

He could have been a hero brave
not the clown up on the stage
a man of courage and convictions
 escaping the beautiful perfect hoax
instead. he has become the brunt of every joke.

He could have been a hero rallied
a warrior gathering troops to carry
the leader acting with common sense and truth
with the confidence in the chosen intelligence
prepared and prepped ready to meet every circumstance.

Heroes don't announce imagined achievements
rather they breathe direction in humility, inner conviction
the presidential soldier, the leader of the nation
takes the reins and boldly steps forward in communication
with a plan, inner strength lacking any hesitation.

He could have been a hero
but who has he become, another Nero
some demagogue captured within his mind
biding time, place and position soon erased
as the nation waits for some new hero to take his place.
