Well, Jeff, I try to remember to replace my smoke detector batteries every six months just to prevent this sort of thing from happening. I have Renters insurance, but I don't think it covers fire.

We do ours every 12 because my dog goes berserk when they start chirping. Staying with my daughter, they clearly don’t observe the same protocol… wandering in the dark to locate, trying not to wake the baby, lol a bit tired today !

Smoke detector chirping, can’t find batteries, just yank em to get some sleep, who cares if the sensor is in place
