SOLVENT SOUL

A request is made known
A promise to fulfill
Circumstances dictate
What members see as real

The machine moves
The cogs bite and roll
Emotions tied in knots
Caging and keeping the soul

Even if one escaped
What tissue could remain
Mauled and utilized
For the operator's selfish gain

Learning to connect and relate
To those outside the field
Is like trying to enter a gate
That has always been locked and sealed

What is it that bears the weight
Of a life plagued by war
A solvent soul hooked in hope
Chained to a revolving door
