Solstice

Solstice…

Solstice…

How can I drag myself without divine wine?
I am falling, and I need wine to be mine.
Being inebriated has its own joy,
To me, heedless and headless both are just fine.

I am tired of me being without me.
The me left me, and I don’t know where is he.
He is not me; where is he gone? He is missed.
I am not me; me is not him; who are we?

I am done with my faith, love, and devotion.
With this gray hair, my soul has no emotion.
Where is my bottle of wine? How much more pain?
I’m done with the desert drown me in ocean.

How much longer for my chalice to get filled?
How much more is enough before I get killed?
I came in, and I stayed, and now, it is time.
I must break from my cage that I didn’t build.

The sky is full of tears; it washes my pain.
To me, the best remedy is dancing in rain.
Am I going to dance once more as it rains?
Hope I will see the next year, and then complain.

The good and all the bad are kept within us.
If you have it, you will lose it; have no fuss!
The more you gain, the more you lose when it's time.
Keep only love for good; not much to discuss.

This poem is in the form of "Rubaiyat", it is the plural form of Rubai. Rubai is a quatrain with the rhyming of AABA. Each Rubai is a book by itself, it starts and ends within the quatrain, but when it's in the form of Rubaiyat, it follows the single theme with the same meter throughout. Poetrysoup has a good explanation of this format.

Hi Pashang, it seems that whatever form you choose, you create a piece to start the reader thinking. Another wonderful write from your pen, the emotions flowing freely through the piece. Save some of that wine for me my friend. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Your friend always....Mike.

Wow! It is achingly beautiful when you reach a point when you give in to everything that used to be of significance, of much weight on your soul! When you reach a point when you are done with everything and you want the end of everything! Reaching that point when you are freed! A write of wealth written by a soul of abundance who claims nothing more but Love. A profound write. A great pleasure to read. A FAV. Be blessed Pashang.

Hello pashang, the flow of this is really good; many can emphasise with the thoughts and wishes you explore and display, I think you sent me another mail, I tried to check my mail as I did last time, I went to inbox which tells my I can access poetry replies and soup mail.' But this is not the case.. I wonder if anyone else has the same situation? All the best anyway.!

The conscious mind extends itself beyond our expected norms and we enter a world composed of reality defused with imagination and love, where happiness is tentative...and so precious as to awe us with its beauty and scare us with its fragility. Emile.

Nice representation of the form, which you so graciously explained for us at the bottom of the poem. I really liked when you used images like this one in your poem: am done with desert drown me in ocean. (that was so cool)

I must look into this form, I really do like it. Pashang this is a deeply emotional poem, depicting a man who is not happy with himself and searching for a part that he feels has gone missing. Alcohol doesn't solve anything, only exaggerates the pain more, that's my opinion though. You leave the reader comforted with your last line...keep only love for good. I totally agree with that. An excellent write and a fave for me....Maria hugs

This is a really deep and beautiful poem, you have perfectly describe the emotional stress of a human being really beautifully, if he is drinking wine to lower his stress, he is only going to fall more deeper and deeper, the first step toward achieving peace is to learn how to control your emotions without anyone's help, it is to accept the past and move on for a better future, I hope that he finds his peace in future, good luck and have a really nice day
