Notes About The Poem

SOLILOQY TO THE NIGHT SKY

Night sky,
I speak to you the way a child
speaks to a sleeping parent~
softly,
so the silence doesn’t shatter.

You hang above me,
a vast velvet listening,
stitched with star-bright syllables
that flicker like thoughts
you haven’t finished thinking.

I tell you my small truths~
the ones I keep folded
like fragile letters,
and you answer
in glimmers,
in glints,
in the slow silver drift
of something older than language.

Your constellations rearrange themselves
as though they recognize me,
as though they’ve been waiting
for my quiet confession.

A star slips~
not falling,
but bowing,
and I feel its faint fire
brush the edge of my breath.

In your dark,
I am not diminished.
I am distilled.
I am the bright ache
of a soul remembering
where its first light came from.

So I speak again~
a soliloquy of longing,
of wonder,
of the soft, shimmering truth
that I am made
of the very radiance
I’m reaching toward.

And you,
ancient listener,
answer without words~
only with your luminescence
telling me
I belong.

So very imaginative and expressing great admiration for the sapphire canopy and the celestial bodies shimmering and shedding light. With child like curiosity you watch the wonders of nature.✍️
