Soldier's Sonnet

I’m back home from the field I have fought on Returned to sender “into Brize Norton”. Think not The Hero, that’s not where I’m at Don’t fight for country, I’m no patriot For my child, my family, all of my friends For people I love let deeds meet the ends. But remember when you ask me to kill It’s at your command these deaths I fulfill. When I signed on to serve Queen & country Employed and fulfilled I wanted to be Not glory, excitement, sport or travel Certainly not my life to unravel So I fought, I killed; I did as you said. It matters not now; no now that I am dead.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
