Soldier's Last Dance
Listen to poem:
To touch the tear that falls upon your heart
Feel your silent breath to which I'm wed
To know your love, caress its crumbled part
This broken dream to darkened path you dread
So dance with me and let our bodies sway
Across the floor held between my arms
Feel the music pulse, for time that won't delay
This need to see you move with all your charms
For tomorrow I must go, I'll not complain
As war has come to pluck this tender soul
And hold my body tight as a final claim
To pay for time each day I can't control
When bombs explode and light the blackest night
I'll see your face to calm my darkest fear
In man made holes I'll crawl in trembling flight
It's there I'll hold this dance with you my dear
To you my love this dance a moment sad
To me, it is a memory's lasting cry
So dance with me as if your heart is glad
My eyes and lips will only say goodbye
Until such time in hope, I may return
Another dance with you I'll always yearn
