Solar Wind

If the time is right the solar wind will come forth from the sun Bringing with it blazing heat and leaving a trail of smoke and fire in its wake We are here for a short span of time The sun has exsisted for billions of years But will eventually burn out There are other suns Other solar systems We cling to our precarious situation While stars are born and stars die We must plan for the future for generations to come will face a cold, barren planet circling a dying star

You bet, Matthew! In fact, my novel about Atlantis begins with a family fleeing a planet with a sun going nova. We are wise to remember that everything is finite! Positively brilliant poem! (I am still moving and will be for weeks, but I had to visit the Soup. Missed you!) Love, Carolyn

also 'Get a Grip' is my haunted poem, although if there's a contest for it I didn't see it in the contest list. I just thought we were playing poets' tag and I was it.

great write. very fun to read. everytime I watch a nova special on the history channel on the universe at some point the inevitable apocalypse comes up, the end of days scheduled for either when the sun dies, the galaxy dies, or the univerxse dies from being ripped apart by dark energy. I laugh every time they try to get me to fear an event that's billions of years in the future, as if this actually effects me in some way:)
