SOFTLY FALLS THE NIGHT

softly falls the night
golden hues upon the land
peaceful evening sky

stars like diamonds
twinkle in dark velvet sky
night's celestial show

The night sky has to be velvet. And that edge that can't quite be pinpointed in the fall of night is soft and mysterious. And the late afternoon gold light is almost viscous too. 'Golden hues' has the roundness in the vowels to express this. Love big skies. Lovely poem. J :)
