Social Media

Depressed
Angry
Hopeless, mental fatigue
Social media – a toxic cerebral disease?

We’re addicted to an image
Humanity - an insatiable virtual lust
Greed, gluttony, and envy
The juxtapositions - intrigue woven with disgust

Intoxicated by the fantastic stories
A dark emotional bottomless hole
We do our best to disconnect
Troubled by the fact – we still want to know

Mesmerized by the beautiful shadows
Addicted to our own self-disdain
We willingly return to the conflict
That recapitulates the pain

It’s not social media
Driving us insane
It’s our distorted perceptions
That’s destroying our brain

Nothing is as it seems
It’s our thoughts that make it so
Discern wisely
Take it all in – now, let it all go
