Sociability

Wearing masks in check-out today
  Computer glitch meant delay
Thought I'd strike up a conversation
  Chase the boredom away

My first target looked at me strange
  OK, his right, didn't think much of it
'Til the second fellow eyed me the same
  Hmm, I thought. Gotta rise above it

The third fellow visibly shrank back
  I felt that sociability was under attack
Don't think I'll frequent that store again
  I'll take off my mask and make me a friend

But, as for me, I'm wearing my mask in public places until this Delta variant calms down...and, yes, I've had both shots, but better be safe than sorry. All I ask of vaccinated individuals who continue to wear masks is to be pleasant. That's all... I've never cared much what a person looks like; only interested in what each person is like... I suspect the 'fear factor' has gone way past Covid and penetrated to the root of too many people's personalities. Pity, that.
