Sobriety

Sobriety
For some it’s chasing the tail of
A dragon.
Walking the
      White
             Line.
Clouds billowing
Through fits
                     Of expelled
     Inhalation.
In mine,
         I drowned.

A trickle..
Dark guttery substance letting
Loose
     Into bottomless oceans.
I could feed the worlds
    Thirst
Upon the heaviness of my
Addiction.
I was forever
             Unquenched.
Unsatisfied, until
        My dark passenger
   Had hydrated his anger.
Filling soulful joy
         To tar like bitterness.
Body aflame
  In pain,
Drowning in a desert with only a
     Mirage
In the distance of salvation.

Lies,
  Told to one’s self.
No more.
Today, I rise.
Standing..breathing.
Being.
Day by day,
One by one.
Today..
I am like a flowing snow melt
       Stream.
Clean,
  Pure.
Godly is my love,
As I am filled and drink upon its
Serenity.

God…
Thy will..not Mine..
  Be done.

Praise with me, to days
   Gone by.
My knees are strong, my will
Never bending as mine eyes,
Filled with Heavens gates,
Gaze into futures bright.
This is me,
Let it be,
That pink cloud..that hovers still by my side.
Shield me, oh lord..
From dark temptation into that bright
Yonder ‘morrow.
