So Simple and So Sincere
So simple and so sincere
is the flow of meaningful words
spoken with infinite tenderness,
and these have ultimately changed me...
restoring a waning faith that was of another sphere,
murmured with a convincing tone so humanly!
Who did reach out when all collapsed around me?
Amid those stones, I bled and screamed for mercy;
doesn't vengeance vanish when compassion contests pride?
Who came to my aid putting all differences aside?
Not friends, but someone whom I had hurt intently,
he could have ignored my anguish and kept ongoing;
no, he stopped and soothed my wounds caringly!
I looked at him with new eyes and did not see an embittered enemy!
Animosity and anger were gone: the glow of hope started shining!
So simple and so sincere
can be the gestures that project kindness;
never engage in controversial revenge,
be rational and put down your weapons:
war is only for vindictive hearts!
It's much easier to be unresentful and forgiving than bear
a grudge that ends when one gives up his breath!
Wouldn't it be better to lie side by side in death...
in marked tombstones that offer an eternal truce, not despair?
