So, Now What

O.K. I'm retired. So, now what?
I could volunteer somewhere, but
I'd like to get paid for working...

O.K. I'm retired. So, now what?
I could go back to college, but
That's expensive, and boring too...

O.K. I'm retired. So, now what?
I could volunteer somewhere, but...

I think some colleges let senior citizens go to college free. It might just be our state system but you could check it out. Good work with a lot of opening for a person who really wanted to do something with the rest of their life. Thanks for all the visits to my page. Sara

Thanks for the suggestion, Sara. Illinois colleges used to let seniors take classes free of charge, but not so much anymore. (They need the money!). And you're right: I intend to do something with the last 24% of my life!!! :) gw

Well, to each his own, as they say, Alkas. Writing poetry is not very fulfilling/filling for me. I like to work and I like to earn a paycheck. So I continue to seek part-time work. ~ gw

you could work part time somewhere a few days a week if you wanted but life's too short, enjoy it, you earned it :) hugs

Ha, ha: Maybe you know someone/some company that wants to hire a 69-year-old ex-teacher with slight mobility issues. Two months of rejection after rejection for part-time work have persuaded me that I'll have to latch onto anything that comes my way. And I mean anything! :) gw

Put up your feet, Gershon. Just write poetry! The rest will take care of itself.

You see right through me, Line: That's exactly what I've been doing for a couple of months, putting my feet up and writing poetry. I can tell you unequivocally: This is NOT MY FUTURE. I've got to find something worthwhile to do, and I really mean that. The poetry is only an avocation, at best. I've got almost 25% of my life left, according to the statistics. It has to be meaningful... Hey, thanks sounding the alarm!!!! I needed a wake-up call badly. :) gw
